Scrabble Tiles and Monopoly
Tokens
By Terry Lewis
The ad in "Family Circle" Magazine said "Lose the Weapons to
Clue? The U’s To Scrabble? The Tokens to Monopoly? No biggie--Just log on to
www.gamepart.com." Huh?.... Well, not exactly.
First let me set the scene for you. We are located in the Pensacola Fl. area.
You know the one hardest hit by Ivan. Things were a little slow with no power
and all. We had a lot of damage so I decided to go stay with my wife who was
on business in Reno Nevada. To my surprise, while setting up shop in Nevada
temporarily, I was inundated with emails wanting Scrabble parts, Clue Weapons
and Monopoly Tokens!
Hey! I am in the Game Part Business after all. But.... Hundreds of orders were
flooding in! They all sounded like ex Cheerleaders! Gimme’ an "S",
gimme’ a "T" I lost my "V"! "Have you got a Clue? I
need a Rope! Help!" Well there was one little problem. I DON’T SELL ANY
OF THEM!
Great huh? After being in the business all this time, I finally get some national
exposure and it’s for stuff I don’t even have!
It was a nice article, only two
problems. It looked like a paid ad and it wasn’t true. Just minor items. "Of course you sell them!"
said the irate lady on the phone. "You have it right there in your ad!"
Now, Family
Circle is a very fine magazine and I love it. I have to tell you though, I don't
know where they got this info from. The New York Times did a nice article about
us and the author of that piece was looking for some scrabble tiles.
Maybe that is the connection. Who knows?
Where to really find them.
Truth is, you can still
buy the majority of these parts from Hasbro.com at their parts order section
and select Replacement
Parts then select P-Z Titles. and you will see Scrabble.
Then, find your model and the parts are available for very reasonable prices.
Tiles will set you back
about $6.50 for the 100-tile set. Here is a link to one of the order forms
Same with Monopoly and Clue.
They are still available.
I do carry from time to time very old Scrabble, Clue
and Monopoly Parts. They just have to be very old or collectible.
We are so sorry for any confusion this caused, I just got a call from Woman’s
World they are including us in an article they are doing in March. I was very
thorough with the nice reporter lady. She sounded very nice and I hope there
will be no problems. If so, I will make sure to get a correction up faster than
with the Scrabble debacle.
I learned two things though. A lot of people are playing Scrabble without all
of their tiles and Family Circle has tons of readers! Gee, I wonder if I could
get Family Circle to do a retraction and put what we really sell?
